Bruce McCartney lives in rural Liberty County. Donald Singleton lives in Richmond Hill. They met each other about 15 years ago, but they’d shared a bond for much longer.

Both men left Vietnam with post-traumatic stress disorder. Both men have seen firsthand how military veterans can fall through the cracks. And they know how a helping hand can turn a life around. So when they heard the six-county Atlantic Judicial Circuit was launching a court program to help veterans convicted of minor crimes turn their lives around, they were elated.

It was something they’d been advocating for a while.
