Holiday wreaths placed on veterans’ graves in Amherst

The town of Amherst is remembering veterans by laying holiday wreaths at their graves during Wreaths Across Amherst.

More than a dozen volunteers went to the town’s five cemeteries Saturday to distribute them, starting at the Meadow View Cemetery on Foundry Street.

The tradition happens each year two days after Thanksgiving. Laying each wreath takes just a minute, but it means so much to veterans and their families.hire vets

Volunteers set out in the rain to honor veterans who have died, those who gave everything they had. “They sacrificed the ultimate of giving their lives to us to give us our freedom,” said Michael Hull, a veteran.
