A local veteran, who served from 1968-71 in the U.S. Army, Dever said heās been trying to get a doctorās appointment for months, but thereās a communication problem between his local Veterans Affairs and the clinic that is supposed to treat him.
Heās not alone. Others have questions and concerns about the federal choice program, many of whom showed up at the Senate Committee on Veteransā Affairs Friday for an oversight field hearing, the third in a series regarding the Veterans Choice Program.
Aimed at examining the Veterans Choice Programās efficiency, including quality and timeliness of care for veterans, the gathering brought nearly 200 to the University of North Georgiaās Gainesville campus in Oakwood.
U.S. Sen. Johnny Isakson, chairman of the Senate Committee on Veterans Affairs, called on 
the Department of
Veterans Affairs to address many of the problems that have come to light since the program was implemented in November 2014.
