President Obama on Tuesday defended his administrationās national security record, focusing particularly on its Iran nuclear agreement, as he addressed the national convention of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
In a 30-minute speech at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center, Obama also pledged to do better on veteransā health issues, while acknowledging that more progress needs to be made to bring down waiting lists at VA facilities.
He ended the address with a litany of brief eulogies for the five service members killed in the shooting last week in Chattanooga, Tenn.
Obama told the crowd that initiatives such as the Iran deal and the resumption of diplomatic
relations with Cuba were examples of a new kind of leadership ā āa smarter, broader vision of American strength.ā
