Military veterans seeking to return to the civilian ranks of workers received help Sunday at a semi-annual workshop.
The University of Nevada Las Vegas and Sen. Harry Reid’s office reached out to veterans who attended to assist them learn skills needed to land a position. One of those new skills is learning how to connect with employers through social media.
Ross Bryant is the director of UNLV’s Office of Veteran Services and is also a retired solider.
He says the challenge for vets is that some qualifications from the military aren’t necessarily transferable to civilian jobs and that’s why helping employers and vets connect in person goes a long way.Ā His strategy is to ask veterans to list some of their top potential employers.
