Veterans sought to open businesses

Fitness chain Anytime Fitness and national nonprofit Tee it Up for the Troops have been looking for veterans to open their own businesses for more than a month now.

And if you’re one of those veterans who has applied, you’ve got to like your odds.

 Surprisingly, only a dozen veterans have applied for the Operation Heartfirst initiative, which will provide a $125,000 grant and a $125,000 loan to a select number of honorably discharged veterans to help cover the initial start-up costs of an Anytime Fitness franchise.

In addition to the financial aid, Anytime Fitness will waive its initial franchise fee and royaltyhire vets payments.

A spokesman for Anytime Fitness relayed the news last week.
