Laurie Share has a vision for downtown Manteca that sheās willing to spend $3.4 million on but needs a little help from the city to secure critical funding.
The vision is to add a third floor to the Sycamore Court building, gut it of 16 problematic boarding style rooms with two communal baths and replace it with a 15-unit apartment complex for Mantecaās first ever housing for low-income veterans. It would have seven studio apartments and eight one-bedroom, one-bath units.
The third floor would also have a courtyard and a roof-top garden for tenants to grow food.Ā Part of the ground floor would be converted to office space for job training and visiting medial personnel to serve all veterans in the community. The rest would be commercial space.
The complex would also include community space for computers for use of residents, a laundry room, and a community room with kitchen, lounge, and an exercise room.
