Saturday, veterans gathered to raise awareness on post-traumatic stress and suicide prevention.

They are called the Irreverent Warriors and their mission is to use humor and camaraderie to unite veterans and heal the mental wounds of war.

ā€œIt tells people that hey, weā€™re here to help get you through whatever youā€™re going through,ā€ said veteran Jeremiah Heidner, ā€œand weā€™re only a phone call away or a message away. Weā€™re always there for you.ā€

Participants hike 22 kilometers with backpacks that weigh 22 kilograms to represent the 22 vets a day who commit suicide.hire vets
