Visiting Kadena Air Base – Americaā€™s largest military base in Okinawa

Among the US Air Force bases in the Asia-Pacific region, Kadena Air Base on Okinawa is the largest one. It has more options for soldiers to enjoy fun in the sun and the ocean as well. Here are some spots to unwind and recharge when you are around Kadena Air Base.

Okuma Recreation Facility

Run by Kadena Air Base, Okuma Recreation Facility is a perfect venue to relax and have fun on weekends. The resort features not only a nine-hole golf course, but also the great outdoors and water recreation. A variety of activities are available, ranging from playing tennis and basketball to kayaking and diving. Lodging options include suite rooms, condos, studios, bungalows, villas and cottages. Room rates start from $50 per night, and cottages $160 and up.

Banyan Tree Golf Course

There are multiple golf courses on and around the bases. The biggest one is Banyan Tree Golf Course, located inside the Kadena Air Base. It is an ideal par 72 golf course that runs through a natural landscape and measures. The facility includes a driving range, restaurant and pro shop.Ā

Kadena Marina

Conveniently located on the ocean side of Route 58, Kadena Marina is steps away from Kadena Air Base. This marina is another spot to enjoy a wide range of water sports and activities, including jet skiing, scuba diving, snorkeling and boating. Rental options include jet skis, boats, fishing gear, kayaks. The marina has a full service dive center that caters to beginners and experienced divers alike.Ā 

Kadena Gate 2 Street

Connecting the Kadena Air Base Gate 2 to Route 330, is Gate Street. The street has been a popular neighbourhood for a night-out in Okinawa City since the 60s. It was the most colorful nightlife scene back in the day. The iconic PRINCE bar is still frequented by regulars for its friendly and homely ambience. For awesome burgers – fresh patties with freshly baked buns, go straight to 3S Burger & Bakery. Sidelines Sports Bar and Grille is a great place to watch live sports and bet on betinjapan.
