Two area veterans recognized with service dogs

two veterans suffering from post traumatic stress disorder [PTSD] were recognized for their service in the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Saturday night at Bonney Field, organizers presented U.S. Army Sergeant Teresa McFarland and Retired Marine Corp veteran Corey Davis with service dogs. Organizers say the service dogs not only provide comfort, but can pick-up on subtle signs of distress from PTSD and can act before even a human can tell what is going on.

McFarland was honorably discharged after 10 years of service. She was presented with her dog, Max, a highly trained Labrador Retriever. Davis received ownership of a young boxer named Xerxes.
