Organization helps veterans recover financially

He founded Operation Stand Down Kentucky, which he said is the only professional veteran fiduciary representative payee organization in the country. It helps veterans manage their money and puts them in touch with other organizations that can help them.

“I started this because of veterans getting ripped off. We want to make sure our veterans aren’t getting the shaft,” Georgette said. “That’s where the original idea spawned from. We have a great team who implemented it. It’s totally unique.”

Larry Gregory, Operation Stand Down Kentucky board vice chairman, said the organization started a year ago and provides supplies and services to homeless veterans.

“Ron has been working on it for several years. He started it a year ago. He works through the (Veterans Affairs office),” he said. “It’s the first of its kind. He plans on taking this nationwide in the next year or two.”

Operation Stand Down Kentucky will have a benefit all-you-can-eat buffet dinner from 6 to 8 p.m. June 7 at B.C. Roosters at 247 Three Springs Road. Cost is $15 per person and includes drink and tip. Tickets are hire vetsavailable by calling 270-535-9161. There will also be T-shirts for sale.

Georgette, a retired U.S. Army veteran, helps veterans handle their finances. The organization works with veterans in VA Fiduciary Hub No. 4, which is based in Louisville. There are six VA Fiduciary Hubs in the U.S., he said.
