Woman who helps veterans seeks kidney donor

A Stratham woman who has dedicated her life to helping veterans is now asking others for help as she fights for her life.

Jo-Ann Clark, 58, needs a new kidney. Although she has made it her mission to be there for New Hampshire’s struggling veterans, she doesn’t like asking for help.Ā “Not at all,” she said. “I’ve been way too independent all my life, and it’s hard for me.”

Clark has had diabetes most of her life. She now has stage five chronic kidney disease and suffered major health issues this year.hire vets

Clark needs a new kidney from someone with Type O blood and matching tissue. She’s on a waiting list for a
transplant, but that could take four to six years.Ā “The key right now is to try to get a kidney sooner than later,” she said.
