A Christmas tree partly decorated with paper dog tags hanging from its branches could help bring yuletide wishes come true for those 136 veterans living at the Veterans Home of California – Redding off Knighton Road.

The tree, which stands in the home’s front lobby, is part of “Operation Holiday Joy.” And it’s all intended to bring a little Christmas joy to the hearts of the home’s veterans.

From now through Dec. 18, North State residents can purchase a special gift for those residents.

Each dog tag hanging on the tree contains the Christmas wish list of the home’s veterans, said Gary Moore, the facility’s public information officer.hire vets

Those who would like to buy a gift or even donate money can select a tag with a resident’s wish list on it and then make that wish or wishes come true.
