Roberts, population 361, boasts a disproportionate number of residents, past and present, who have served in the armed forces.

On Saturday — with help from Gov. Steve Bullock and Montana’s adjutant general, Maj. Gen. Matthew T. Quinn —Roberts residents plan to celebrate veterans’ service beginning at noon by erecting crosses and dog tags in their honor.

A brief ceremony featuring Bullock and other speakers is set to begin at 2 p.m. at the Roberts Public School, 106 Maple Street. A potluck luncheon will be served afterward.hire vets

For this initial go-round, 73 crosses and 44 dog tags will be placed along Highway 212 through town, said Roberts resident Kyle McKinney.
