Former county vets affairs official sentenced to jail

The former head of the Calhoun County Veterans Affairs office has been sentenced to 120 days in jail for taking money over his normal income.

In the packed court of Calhoun County Circuit Judge Conrad Sindt on Monday, Scott Losey, 45, of Portage, was sentenced for three high-court misdemeanors.

Losey had been charged with three misdemeanors for taking money and gifts from veterans who sought his help in getting benefits between 2010 and 2015.

Those misdemeanors were dismissed when Losey pleaded to the high-court misdemeanors. hire vetsHe had also been charged with embezzlement, but Calhoun County prosecutors dropped that charge when they evaluated the evidence.
