Tammy Baldwin introduces bill to combat pain medication abuse

Democratic U.S. Sen. Tammy Baldwin has introduced legislation aimed at combating abuse of pain medication among veterans, following a scathing report on the VA Medical Center in Tomah that was known to some veterans as “Candy Land.”

The bill comes after an investigation Baldwin launched into her own office that revealed staffers failed to advise her of complaints against the Tomah facility, which included over-prescription of pain mediation to veterans.hire vets

It’s the latest move Baldwin has taken in response to the complaints and investigation, which included demoting and firing staff members.
