VA to veterans: We’re listening

Veterans asked questions about benefits, policies, procedures and other issues Thursday, and received answers ā€” or the promise to get answers in some cases.

About 50 people turned out for the second Town Hall meeting at the Veterans Affairs Illiana Health Care System in Danville; a meeting also was conducted in Peoria in December. The meetings, which are open to the public, are scheduled on a quarterly basis to share information, hear feedback and answer questions.

Ā The secretary of Veterans Affairs has directed all VA health care and benefits facilities to conduct quarterly town hall events to improve communication with veterans nationwide. The Illiana staff already meets regularly in a town hall environment with veteransā€™ service organizations.

Afterward, Illiana Director Japhet C. Rivera said he thought the meeting went well. A couple hire vetsof the issues were the same ones that arose at the last Danville meeting in September, and a couple involved isolated instances.
