WASHINGTON, DC – Luke’s Wings, a non-profit dedicated to reuniting wounded warriors with their loved ones during their recovery, will be launching its 3rd annual No Soldier Spends Christmas Alone campaign on Veterans Day, November 11, 2014.  The campaign, which runs from Veterans Day to Christmas Day, aims to ensure that no service member from any branch should have to wake up alone on Christmas morning. Between a steep rise in the cost of airline tickets during this time of year and the increased rate of suicide and depression amongst the wounded warrior population, Luke’s Wings ramps up fundraising efforts to ensure that they can say “YES” to every flight request they receive during the holiday season.

Carlson ChristmasAs part of the No Soldier Spends Christmas Alone campaign, donations of $50 are recognized with a 2014 commemorative Luke’s Wings holiday ornament, and donations of $350, the cost of an average flight, are recognized with the same ornament and an acknowledgement card. The ornament and card are inscribed with text that let its recipient know that these meaningful and unique gifts symbolize a gift has been made in their honor to reunite wounded warriors and their families on Christmas morning. Donors are encouraged to gift ornaments, in lieu of traditional holiday gifts, to friends, families, employees, clients and/or vendors.

Individuals and corporations/organizations are encouraged to participate. Partners and sponsors include, but are not limited to, Austin-Weston Center for Cosmetic Surgery, ClearanceJobs, GovEvents, Military Spouse Magazine, Northrop Grumman, Sagent, SRS Corporation, VeteransToday and WTOP.

In addition to increased fundraising efforts, Luke’s Wings will be increasing promotion on their Delta SkyMiles partnership. In honor of Veteran’s Day, Luke’s Wings was one of two non-profits chosen by Delta Airlines to receive a match of all miles donated in the month of November. Miles donated during this time of the year will go towards providing flights for wounded warriors and their loved ones during the holiday season. To donate SkyMiles visit www.delta.com/veterans.
