The Lorain County Veterans Service Commission plans to move out of its shared quarters at the Lorain County Jobs and Family Services building, 42485 N. Ridge Road in Elyria, and into a nearly 5,000-square-foot building at 1230 N. Abbe Road in Elyria.

“This will be a whole lot better for serving the veterans in the county,” said Terry Stone, executive director of the agency.

The Lorain County Veterans Service Commission currently shares a building with Lorain County Jobs and Family Services, OhioMeansJobs and other agencies, Stone said, estimating that the agency’s section of the building has a footprint somewhere around 900 square feet.

Stone said he predicts the move, which will happen sometime in early 2016, will better protect the privacy of veterans who come through the agency.hire vets

Also, some veterans have day jobs and can’t take off time during the N. Ridge Road building’s hours, which are 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Stone said.
