CHICAGO, November 30, 2018 – York Solutions, a veteran-owned IT consulting firm that uses a non-transactional, value-based approach to provide clients with custom workforce solutions to fit their business needs to successfully complete IT projects, is certified as a Veteran Owned Business (VOB) by the National Veterans Business Development Council (NVBDC), the company announced today.

The NVBDC is the only Veteran Owned Business Certification organization developed by veterans for veterans to provide a reliable certifying authority ensuring that valid documentation exists of veteran ownership.

To be certified a VOB, a company needs to be 51 percent veteran-owned and controlled. Proof of active and independent veteran management of the business must also be verified.

York Solutions’ Founder Bill Carr is a Vietnam veteran dedicated to integrating veterans into the civilian workforce. “When I started York Solutions, it was with the mission to always have a positive impact on the lives, careers, and futures of IT professionals, including veterans. To now be certified by the National Veterans Business Development Council as a VOB is a true honor,” said Carr.

“A reported 250,00 military veterans transition to the civilian workforce annually. They are uniquely prepared to think through solutions and act resourcefully as part of a team. These are skills that any company would be lucky to have, and I encourage other CEOs to develop a veteran hiring initiative,” noted Carr.

As part of York Solutions’ mission, the company launched the Barriers to Entry Program (B2E) in 2016 as a paid return-ship program geared toward helping veterans entering the civilian workforce with a career in IT.

“We know that veterans are highly skilled and highly qualified, and this program acts as an on ramp to a career in IT,” said York Solutions’ CEO Richard Walker. “The program helps veterans focus their skills, so they are successful in a new IT position. Upon graduation from the program, we place the graduates in contract positions with our clients which have been incredibly successful for both parties.”
