Yvonne Johnson, a Marine Vet and 35-year-old mother of two, has been selected to participate in the prestigious Television Academy Foundationā€™s 2018 Internship Program.

Johnson, currently working towards a MFA in Theatre Design at Southern Methodist University, will be interning this summer in the costume design department at Terry Gordon Associates in Los Angeles, CA.

The Television Academy Foundationā€™s annual Internship Program provides 50 paid internships, at top Hollywood studios and production companies, to college students nationwide. The renowned program gives both undergraduate and graduate students in-depth and hands-on professional experience in a variety of television careers during the eight-week internship.

“Iā€™m a woman of color who served 5 years in the United States Marine Corps, fought in a war, holds a B.F.A. in Fashion Design and am obtaining an MFA in Theatre Design, all while raising 2 boys…I confuse a lot of people who have assumptions about our veterans and women of color in this country..and I love it!” said Yvonne Johnson.
