ELLIJAY, Ga. — Jill Frost Films and Blue Heron Films are bringing the story of homeless vets to the big screen with its latest feature. Wrapped in a Christmas tale, it tells the story of John Frost (Aiden Turner), a soldier suffering from PTSD who returns home early from Afghanistan to find both his wife (Toni Hudson) and son (Walker Mintz) preoccupied with holidays.

The un-welcomed company of Charlie, an angel dog that his son adopted, he embarks on a journey where he meets other vets trying to cope with civilian life, nearly loses one of his new friends and discovers that the service people he has bonded with are without homes. From this, the struggle of one man turns into a solution to help many who served for their country.

The cast includes Vernon Wells, Diane Ladd, Dirk Benedict and Richard Tyson. Additional players include both veterans, mainstays of the industry and newcomers including Patrick Kucera (PK), the real life pastor and Kansas gubernatorial candidate in the role of the church leader who is both confidant and advisor to the vets. Sue Ann Taylor and Toni Hudson make up the creative team.

The project not only developed out of today’s headlines, but also was a result of talking to homeless vets. According to Sue Ann, the writer, a real world solution located in Georgia helped to bring the picture together: “I discovered Eagle Ridge Buildings in Ellijay before this project took shape. Their wonderful tiny houses were the perfect solution to the troubling problem of displaced servicemen and women.”

Featuring real, local veterans, it doesn’t just talk about the problem, but shows a call to action to help fellow Americans. The film is set to debut nationwide on Veterans Day, 2018, and will play throughout the holiday season. Both the movie and surrounding events will contribute to building new homes for military people in need.
