Island veterans offered new hope for jobs, education

Military veterans on Staten Island seeking help with employment, education and other issues have a new number to dial, courtesy of Borough Hall.

Offices at Borough Hall in St. George and at the College of Staten Island in Willowbrook now are dedicated to assisting veterans  and their families with employment services, educational benefits, financial services and business opportunities, according to Borough President James Oddo.

U.S. Navy veteran Matthew Basile, a community outreach specialist from the New York City Department of Veteran’ Services, will work out of Borough Hall to assist veterans several days a week, a spokeswoman for the borough president said.
