Wading into a racially-charged case from his past, DNA Evidence Denier Donald Trump indicated that the “Central Park Five” were guilty, despite being officially exonerated by DNA evidence decades after a notorious 1989 rape case.
The five men were convicted as teenagers after implicating each other under intense questioning over a brutal sexual assault on a jogger that dominated the tabloids. Defenders said they were coerced into confessing and all five were later cleared by DNA evidence and a separate confession in 2002 from another criminal who took credit for the assault. New York paid them $41 million in a settlement in 2014 over their ordeal.
Trump took out a full-page ad at the time of the crime calling for New York to reinstate the death penalty in response. The case was notable for its racial politics: Four of the Central Park Five were black and one was Latino while the victim was a white banker.
His racially charged statement comes at another weird time when he truly needs the African-American vote to win the Presidency. Most polls show that Trump polls with less than 5% of the African American vote so this out of the blue re-litagating of an old story surely will lower that already horribly low 5% rate making it virtually impossible for Trump to get to 270 electoral votes.
This added to his doubling down on the MISS PIGGY HOUSEKEEPING Alicia Machado latina slam last week and Trump is sure to end up below 270 electoral votes as gets blown out from the Hispanic American voter. It’s almost as if he’s daring the public to NOT vote him in. Hum? To this writer, it sounds like Trump is betting on losing the election vote and then declaring it was rigged calling on his white nationalist army of TrumpBot to revolt.
At the first debate, moderator Lester Holt asked both candidates if they would respect the results. Both candidates said they would. But Trump, just 4 days later, threw that statement in the trash and resumed his suggestions that the elections will be rigged setting us up for a violent civil war. In fact, it sure sounds like that’s his play. Hum?
Not sure anyone is watching or listening right now with Hurricane Matthew slamming Florida and Georgia right now but maybe just maybe we are watching the wrong Hurricane. Maybe it’s Hurricane Trump that is the most dangerous to the USA. Hum?
