Nonprofit founders vow veterans will get better treatment

Five years ago, Veterans Assisting Veterans was founded by two Vietnam veterans, Dennis Moschella and Robert Fairbairn, who vowed to never let soldiers and Marines be treated as horribly as they were when they returned home from war.

“Vietnam veterans are not going to let this generation of warriors be treated like we were,” said VAV president Moschella, 68, a former Revere narcotics detective.

Every cent raised by the nonprofit group goes to a veteran in need or organizations that directly help veterans.
