A Westland woman has been accused of stealing more than $2 million from the Veterans Health Administration Credit Union and using it to buy a 2013 Mercedes Benz, a motorhome and take personal vacations.

Fuataina Afutiti, the former president and CEO of the credit union, faces one count of receiving proceeds from a continuing criminal enterprise and one count of embezzlement from a credit union, Michigan Attorney General Bill Schuette announced Friday. The embezzlement reportedly happened between 2012-16.

Afutiti, 50, was arraigned Friday in 36th District Court in Detroit and released on a $10,000 personal recognizance bond. Authorities have ordered Afutiti to surrender her passport and prohibited her from leaving the state of Michigan.
