The JulyĀ 19 PowerPost article ā€œBattle over VA plan for veteransā€™ care buildsā€ framed nursesā€™ efforts to provide our nationā€™s veterans with direct access to high-quality patient care as a turf battle between physicians and nurses. This is not about doctors vs. nurses but about how we can work together to meet the pressing care needs of veterans.

The proposed Veterans Affairs rule that would grant advanced-practice registered nurses full practice authority states that ā€œAPRNs would not be authorized to replace or act as physicians or to provide any health care services that are beyond their clinical education, training, and national certification.ā€
