GreenCare for Troops Helps Veterans, Military Families in their Own Backyards

A nationwide program is helping veterans and military families here in Minnesota – quite literally, right in their own backyards.

It’s called “GreenCare for Troops” and it connects volunteer contractors with military families and disabled veterans.

For disabled veteran Stephen Thell of South St. Paul, it means it’s easier to stay in his home and maintain his independence.

“It’s a gift that I don’t have to worry about this,” Thell said. “It will help me stay in my house longer, and that’s a huge thing because you want to try and remain as independent as possible.”


William Krammer of Krammer Lawn and Snow is one of the contractors who volunteers his services. He also happens to be a veteran himself.
