NC veterans give hope to those battling PTSD

In the US, there are 2.7 million veterans of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars. About 20-percent are estimated to have PTSD and about half never seek treatment.

A town hall in Asheville Saturday looked to increase the number of veterans seeking treatment. “I’ll give it a little tail,” said Ed Norris of Hendersonville. Making fishing lures is more than a hobby for Norris.hire vets

“The whole idea behind flies is to imitate types of bugs that are in the water,” said Norris. These lures also block what’s bugging Ed.

“Normally I’m the kind of person who wants to have my back up against the wall and be able to see the door and watching out for people, and what’s going on around me but with this I’m very focused,” said Norris.
