The Fort Bragg bedroom community of Spring Lake is moving forward with plans to promote military and veterans affairs in the town.

The Spring Lake Board of Aldermen voted unanimously Monday night to establish an advisory committee to recommend, promote and assist in the implementation of these functions and activities.

In September, at the request of Alderman James Christian, a charter was developed to create the Military and Veterans Affairs Advisory Committee.

“I’m glad this is taking place as our population grows slightly,” Christian said at the meeting. “Spring Lake has always been a very veteran-based town and had the perspective of veterans on how to manage itself.”hire vets

Town Manager Tad Davis said the creation of the advisory committee would be “to promote military and veterans affairs functions and activities in the town of Spring Lake as recommended by the town manager and board of aldermen.”
