Westover Air Reservists who flew planes contaminated with Agent Orange following the Vietnam War will be eligible for health and disability payments in a rule ending a complicated four-year battle with the government.

The new rule was approved by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and the White House Office of Management and Budget and takes effect on Friday, according to the Associated Press.

For four years a group of veterans from Westover Air Reserve Base in Chicopee who flew in the contaminated C-123 Provider planes have been battling for benefits similar to those received by veterans who served in Vietnam.
