Virtual job fair links veterans and employers

After braving months on the battlefield, veterans return home and find themselves facing unfamiliar territory – today’s job market.

Veterans must navigate a cornucopia of information without a compass. There are thousands of job listings on career websites, pages and pages of resources provided by government-funded agencies to pore over and even more paperwork from employers to fill out at job fairs.

A network that is supposed to assist veterans overwhelms them instead. With more than two million organizations to go to, veterans don’t know where to begin or they get lost in the system.

“When I returned to Tallahassee, it was extremely difficult for me to find a job,” said Kenneth hire vetsPlanner, an Army staff sergeant who left the military in 2013. “I tried everything – vocational rehab programs, career fairs, the internet, you name it.”
