The University of Wisconsin Stevens Point is among the best education institutions in the nation for military and veteran education, according to Military Advanced Education’s 2015 Guide to Colleges and Universities.

The guide evaluated more than 600 institutions from community colleges to state universities, evaluating the military culture, financial aid, flexibility, on-campus support and online support services.

A dashboard guide of best practices in military education at each school will be published in the December issue of Military Advanced Education as well as online at www.mae-kmi.com.

hire vetsUWSP also was recognized recently as a 2015 Military Friendly School by G.I. Jobs for the fifth year in a row.

Approximately 300 veterans, National Guard members, reservists and military dependents are enrolled at UWSP, said Ann Whipp, coordinator of Veterans Services.

UWSP’s faculty, staff and students demonstrate openness, care and concern for veterans’ academic and emotional health, helping them readjust to the civilian community and academic pursuits, she said.

“Being a ‘military friendly’ university is not only supportive of veterans, but it improves and enriches the campus community with increased knowledge and understanding for all,” Whipp said.
