* A massive cyber snooping operation on American companies has been tracked back to the Chinese military.

A Virginia-based Internet security firm claims a military center on the outskirts of Shanghai is responsible for the hack attacks.

China denies the claims.

* Seven Marines were injured when their helicopter made a hard landing during a training exercise in Thailand.

So concludes a report by the Institute for Veterans and Military Families.

* Maryland, Virginia and the District of Columbia would be hit hardest if the U.S. goes off the latest fiscal cliff in just over a week.


* The Navy is opening a Hazing Prevention office to curb abuse.

The new department will write anti-hazing policy and track serious cases.

* German prosecutors have charged two men with smuggling dozens of engines to Iran for use in its drone program.
